Day 9: 9th April 2015 NAPOWRIMO

LOST IN THE WOODS

I wander off the path

So many times, to always

Find my way back.

I tried in vain to get lost in the woods.

I want the deep dark gloomy trees

To engulf my being

To never let me go.

I keep walking today, determined

To get lost in the woods

And never come back.

I listen to the birds chirp, watch flowers bloom

The trees sway with the rhythm of the wind

The moist dark soil, muddy and soft

Entices me to sit down in the deep embrace of the forest

Finally I am at peace, finally lost

As the sun sets on the horizon, the forest starts to deepen, darken

I remember my ailing mother, my little brother

The dinner uncooked, the shop to be opened

I pick myself up to go home, I cry

I know I’ll have to come back again to get lost

I’ll have to try.
